Mysterious Creature Caught on Camera at Bristol Zoo Leaves Experts Puzzled

An unidentified and mysterious creature has been caught on camera in the Bristol Zoo Project’s Bear Wood habitat, and the authorities are clueless about which species it is.

A mysterious creature was captured by the camera traps set up to track bears, wolves, wolverines, and lynx who inhabit the area.

A close examination of the pictures captured by the camera revealed that the mysterious creature had four legs and looked like nothing they had seen before. The pictures reveal the creature about the size of a medium dog with a gingery brown pale underside and dark stripes on its face.

Earlier, the staff had reported seeing something unknown lurking between the trees, and they also said that the creature had caught the attention of the other animals.

Rosie Sims, public engagement manager at Bristol Zoo Project, said,

“The sighting of this mythical-like creature is a mystery to us here at Bristol Zoo Project and has been a great inspiration for the Halloween trail this year. Scotland has the Loch Ness Monster and Cornwall has the Beast of Bodmin Moor—have we discovered a similar mythical creature here in Bristol, perhaps?”

England’s Bristol Zoo authorities have also sought the public’s help in trying to identify the mysterious creature that was caught on its cameras.

Speculation: It could be a Muntjac deer.

Meanwhile, public curiosity has been ignited after the discovery of images of the strange creature, which resembled a muntjac deer but had wings and horns. However, the Southeast Asian native muntjac deer has antlers, which could be confused as horns. According to the Wildlife Trusts, the Muntjac deer was brought to the UK from China in the 20th century and has a prominent presence in southeast England and is more of a nuisance since it causes damage while grazing.

The sighting has evoked more interest because it coincides with the zoo’s Halloween “Myths and Legends Trail.”

Bristol Zoo Project’s Halloween trail, christened Howl-oween: Myths and Legends, begins on Friday, 25 October 2024.

The image was posted by the Wildlife Conservation Park in England on October 22.

Public Reaction:

The public’s reactions to the post are a mixture of inventiveness and curiosity. While some stated that it is a muntjac deer that was caught at an unusual angle, others went into flights of fancy and stated that it is a baby unicorn.
