Mysterious Monoliths Are Appearing Across the World: Here Is What We Know About These Gigantic Structures

The mysterious monoliths are popping up all over the globe, and there are many unanswered questions about their appearance and sudden disappearance. The monoliths have appeared in places thousands of miles apart on different dates. The monoliths have appeared in Utah, Romania, California, and New Mexico.

The monoliths are towering vertical slabs of metal, 10 to 12 feet in height. They appear without any warning and disappear quickly. The first time this colossal structure appeared was on November 18 in the Utah desert. The structure disappeared on November 27. The second sighting of the structure was made on November 27 in the Romanian city of Piatra Neamt, and it disappeared on December 2. The third sighting was made on December 2 on Pine Mountain in Atascadero, California. However, it disappeared on December 3 only to reappear on December 4. The fourth sighting was made on December 7 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and this time it was taken down on the same day.

The monoliths are somewhat akin to the monoliths of Stanley Kubrick’s sci-fi classic 2001: A Space Odyssey. The vast black monoliths in the film were deposited by aliens to guide human beings from one stage of evolution to the next. So, what exactly are these structures? Let us delve a little deeper to know more about them.

The first discovery was made in November in a remote desert canyon in Utah’s Red Rock Country by a helicopter crew who was counting bighorn sheep. They stumbled upon the monolith and landed their chopper near it to investigate. The structure, which resembled an enormous smooth metal triangular prism, was embedded deep in the rocky surface of the canyon.

A deeper investigation by Reddit sleuths using Google Maps Earth View found that the structure was installed sometime between August 2015 and October 2016. The Utah Department of Public Safety also acknowledged the structure on Facebook.

However, the structure was removed by BASE jumper Andy Lewis and adventure guide Sylvan Christensen on November 27, and they also filmed the removal process. They argued that they did it for environmental reasons.

In a joint statement, they said, “This land wasn’t physically prepared for the population shift,”

They added that the structure could attract hordes of monolith-gawkers into the pristine desert landscape, with no infrastructure set up to support them, causing permanent damage to the delicate ecosystem.

Next, the structure appeared outside the city of Piatra Neamt, on the plateau of Bâtca Doamnei, near an archaeological site on November 27. However, it was different from the earlier monoliths since it was a vast triangular prism, 10 to 12 feet tall and was covered in looping lines, and there’s a welded seam near its base. The earlier monoliths had a smooth and reflective surface. However, after 4 days the structure vanished mysteriously.

The day it vanished another monolith appeared, this time in California, on top of a mountain off a hiking path. It was akin to the earlier structures and was 10 to 12 feet in height and had a smooth surface but was also a bit narrower. It was also not embedded in the rock and on December 3, a group of young men toppled it over and dragged it down the mountain chanting “America First” and “Christ is king”. They also put a cross over the spot. On December 4, the California monolith returned.

The identity of the creators of this monolith is now known. It was made by a group of local metal artists Atascadero residents Travis Kenney, his father Randall Kenney, Wade McKenzie, and Jared Riddle.

On December 7, a fourth monolith appeared, this time in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the parking lot of an REI. However, it was brought down on the same day, and there is also a video of a group of people bringing it to the ground.
