According to Hindu mythology, Narakasura was a demon used to molest and misbehave with women. As per one story in Hindu mythology Krishna and Satyabhama killed Narakasura. As per Hindu mythology, the God of death is Yamraj. The Yamraj is worshipped on the day of Narakchaturdashi. On this day Deep Daan is done. The worshipper will face the south direction and offer sesame seeds in water to God Yamraj. They will also take his 14 names on this day and pray to him to avoid going into the Narak after death.
