Narcotics Smuggler Evades Police Custody in Jammu

In a shocking turn of events, a narcotics smuggler from Punjab managed to escape from police custody in Jammu city on Friday. Balraj Singh of Sehora in Amritsar and Pawan Kumar of Udhampur were apprehended on March 18 after being found in possession of a heroin-like substance.

The duo was taken to the Janipur court complex in Jammu for further legal proceedings. However, during their appearance in court, one of the suspects successfully fled the premises. The authorities have launched a manhunt to locate the absconding smuggler.

An official revealed, “One of the two escaped from the court complex and a manhunt has been launched to trace him.” This incident has once again highlighted the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in curbing the illegal drug trade in the region. The investigation into this case is ongoing.
