Natalie Portman says she used to find dressing for awards ceremonies 'oppressive'

Actress Natalie Portman has shared her evolution in dressing up for awards ceremonies, from finding it oppressive to now enjoying the chance to glam up since having children. The ‘Black Swan’ star used to feel women had it tough while men could be comfortable, but now embraces the transformation.

On the ‘SmartLess’ podcast, Portman expressed her change in perspective, stating, “I used to think it was kind of oppressive… now having kids, I feel like it’s pretty fun to have people make you feel good and go glam.” The actress acknowledged the societal pressure on women to look their best, contrasting it with the ease men have in their attire choices.

Living in the fashion capital Paris, Portman mentioned how she has a collection of sweats but refrains from wearing them out in the city. She humorously shared, “You really can’t wear sweats in Paris…You get your visa taken away.” The actress highlighted the lifestyle shift from a more casual approach to fashion in her new environment.
