National Recycling Week 2024 Theme, Quotes, Images, Messages, Posters, Banners and Captions
National Recycling Week or NRW, which is conducted yearly in Australia during the second week of November, this year is from 11 to 17 November. Launched in 1996 by environmental organisation Planet Ark, the organisation is committed to raising people’s awareness about correct recycling, thereby making them enhance their knowledge about recycling, inculcate good recycling habits, and develop a perception of the importance of recycling in their day-to-day lives.
A recycling education program is required for sometimes it gets complicated, especially with China banning its imports and problems such as the “waste crisis” occurring. Planet Ark aims to help sustain the growing Australian confidence in recycling correctly. If we start viewing waste as a resource, we use the channels to transform it into new products so as not to destroy the environment. Also, it decreases exploitation of raw materials to create new products.
The recycling trend in the U.S started with the environmental movement of the 1970’s which was characterized by the first Earth Day and the formation of the Agency for Environmental Protection. However, the idea of recycling existed before that. The Ban the Can movement, which began in 1970 by Ruth “Pat” Webb of Hawaii, served as the first mass campaign for recycling since WWII, collecting 9 tons of metal cans from Oahu streets and forming them into steel bars for construction.
Planet Ark distributes information and resources to the Australian communities, schools, businesses, and government institutions that organize the National Recycling Week events within their network. The program highlights the principle of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. People can participate in this campaign in their homes, workplaces, schools, and communities. Each year, the event promotes recycling at all levels in society and raises people’s awareness.
InfraBuild is the second-largest metal recycling company in Australia. The company keeps using old metals to renew them in their products.
National Recycling Week 2024 Theme
The theme this year is “Join the Cycle.” The concept behind this theme is that steel can be recycled over and over again as a raw material to manufacture new things. The InfraBuild SENSE 600 product is made of 100 percent scrap metal, and the use of raw material has been reduced by 16.7%. This is a large stride for recycling metals in Australia.
Recycling week inspires us to regard old metals and unused items lying around in homes and workplaces as something that needs to be recycled. InfraBuild collects all sorts of metals at 26 recycling sites and then features during the week all sorts of recycling efforts such as trains and aircraft.
