Annually on 11 May, National Technology Day is commemorated. This day celebrates the importance of engineers, researchers, and tech giants in the field of technology. This day was established by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former prime minister of India. To celebrate the Pokhran nuclear test, in 1999 National Technology Day was coined.

Due to the tremendous contribution of the advancements in technology, skyrocketed growth is witnessed in the country. The very first organization of national technology day was done by the Council for Technology Development. It was done in the presence of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the then Prime Minister of the nation.

In May 1998, the Indian army tested 5 Pokhran Nuclear tests. The test was conducted to analyze the power of the nuclear bombs. Technology Day also celebrates the success of the Indian Army.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee declared a new day, National technology day in 1998. That’s the history of the day can be traced back to a few decades. The Pokhran nuclear test that was conducted by the Indian army in 1998 was the main focus of the commemoration of National Technology Day. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was the key person behind the successful implementation of the Pokhran tests. Being an eminent engineer, he led all the Pokhran tests under him. Technology Day was established on the successful result gained by the Pokhran test. In the present time, this day honors the effort and achievement of every individual who is working in the field of science and technology.

There are various ways by which India commemorates this important day. Seminars on the upcoming future of science and technology are being organized by the government. Numerous competitions like essay, Speech, and Debate are being conducted in academic institutions, schools, and universities.
