Navneet Mallik does scene similar to Ayushmann's in 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha'

Mumbai, Feb 19 (IANS) Actor Navneet Mallik, who plays the lead character of Sumedh in the show ‘Aankh Micholi’, has recently enacted a scene reminiscent of Ayushmann Khurrana’s sequence in the 2015 movie ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’.

In the scene, Navneet’s character Sumedh picks up his onscreen mother, played by actress Bhakti Rathod, and runs a race, echoing a similar iconic moment in ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ where Ayushmann’s character Prem carries his wife Sandhya, played by Bhumi Pednekar, and wins a race.

Navneet acknowledged the inevitable comparisons, stating, “I am certain there will be comparisons. Ayushmann was iconic in that scene and we have tried our best to make it different. Such race sequences are widely appreciated, so we aimed to maintain the authenticity of our setting.” He also emphasized that his focus was solely on delivering the scene and not being concerned about being compared to Ayushmann.

The actor discussed the significance of the sequence in the plot, highlighting the affection and love of his character for his stepmother ‘Baa’. He also mentioned the challenges of performing the scene, including the need for preparation and techniques to effectively carry out the moment.

Navneet humorously shared that there were jokes offscreen about how he conveniently lifted Bhakti for the scene, and that he reassured her of his gym training. The show, ‘Aankh Micholi’, also stars Khushi Dubey and is produced by Shashi Sumeet Productions, airing on Star Plus.

The scene in ‘Aankh Micholi’ is a nod to the iconic moment in ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, with Navneet Mallik delivering a performance that showcases his dedication and authenticity as an actor. His focus on making the scene unique and his humorous offscreen anecdotes provide a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating such memorable moments on screen.
