NCB busts drug syndicate trafficking across state borders in Goa

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has uncovered an interstate drug syndicate in Goa, arresting a Nigerian national, identified as Stanley, and his wife, Usha C, who were operating a drug network in the coastal state. NCB seized cocaine from a peddler, leading to the arrest of the kingpin and his associates.

NCB Additional Director, Amit Ghawate, revealed that the agency took action based on intelligence received on February 13, 2024. They arrested Raju S, a peddler linked to Stanley’s drug network. Further investigation showed Stanley and his wife actively involved in drug trafficking, with plans to freeze their illegally acquired properties worth rupees one crore.

Following the initial arrest, NCB apprehended another peddler, Michael, who worked as a taxi driver in Candolim, Goa. Stanley, who had been previously arrested by Telangana Police in an NDPS case, was found to be the mastermind behind the drug operations. Usha C was also implicated in administering drug sales and handling the proceeds.

The NCB raided Stanley and Usha C’s residence in Candolim, discovering their involvement in the drug network. Ghawate stated, “The kingpin Stanley had associated local individuals to distribute drugs in bulk. Usha C was found managing the drug money. Efforts are being made to weaken the entire drug network by identifying and freezing their illegally acquired assets.” Stanley was subsequently arrested by NCB, and investigations are ongoing.
