NCB summons Tamil filmmaker Ameer in Jaffer Sadiq drug racket case

Chennai, March 31 (IANS) The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has summoned Tamil movie maker Ameer for questioning in the Rs 2,000 crore international drug trafficking case involving former DMK functionary Jaffer Sadiq. Ameer directed a movie produced by Sadiq and is required to appear for questioning on April 2 at the NCB’s New Delhi office.

Two other associates of Sadiq, Abdul Fazid Buhari and Syed Ibrahim, have also been summoned by the NCB. Sadiq was arrested on March 9 from New Delhi in a case related to the smuggling of drugs to countries like Australia and New Zealand. Earlier in February, three of Sadiq’s associates were also arrested.

Central intelligence agencies have received information that banned LTTE is attempting to raise funds through ties with drug networks from Pakistan, such as the Haaji Ali group. This case highlights the intricate web of illegal activities that certain individuals and groups are involved in, posing a threat to national security.
