NDA candidate T.T.V. Dhinakaran holds the upper hand in Theni LS constituency

Chennai, April 11 (IANS) – T.T.V. Dhinakaran of AMMK is set to have an advantage in the Theni Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming general elections as part of the NDA in Tamil Nadu, ending in a neck-and-neck race. The AIADMK and DMK candidates are also in the fray.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, AIADMK leader, P. Raveendranathan won the seat by 76,693 votes. Dhinakaran, on the Pressure Cooker symbol, is expected to secure the victory this time against a weak AIADMK candidate, V. Narayanasamy.

The constituency was previously held by AIADMK, denying DMK a clean sweep, and the battle now seems to be primarily between Dhinakaran and DMK’s Thanga Tamil Selvan. With both candidates from the Thevar community, Dhinakaran holds a strong position due to his past influence and support.

The Thevar community, a key player in South Tamil Nadu, is expected to heavily support Dhinakaran due to his track record during the Jayalalithaa era. Even with tough competition, Dhinakaran’s alliance with OPS and Raveendranathan of the NDA gives him an added advantage in the race for the Theni seat.

Dhinakaran, confident of his chances, stated, “The Theni seat was previously the Periyakulam Lok Sabha seat and I was an elected MP from this seat. I know people across the constituency, and the presence of OPS and Raveendranathan is helping my candidature.” The fight seems to be mainly between DMK and AIADMK, with Dhinakaran poised to finish strong.
