New York Cartoonist and Copywriter Jon Medwick Dies After Jumping from 15th Floor of Chelsea Apartment
A 62-year-old cartoonist, Jon Medwick, who worked as a copywriter for WebMD in his day job, has been reported to have jumped off from the fifteenth floor of his apartment in Chelsea.
This incident occurred in the early morning hours of March 5, 2024, Tuesday.
The New York Post reported that all efforts by his girlfriend to save her boyfriend’s life were in vain when she desperately attempted to do so.
Upon waking up and searching for him, she found him standing at the window of the apartment. Reportedly, Medwick’s girlfriend tried to save him by grabbing and holding him back, as reported by BNN Breaking.
However, despite several attempts, the victim met his tragic end.
Medwick’s girlfriend moved into the flat with him before the pandemic.
Before that, Medwick had lived there for years.
The New York Post, citing police sources, reported that depression led the victim to jump out of his apartment window.
A resident reported on the state of the deceased’s girlfriend, who appeared distraught. The resident said,
“I did see the girlfriend. She looked distraught. She kept saying her legs were hurting … I don’t know if she was nervous. EMS took her.”
The police, after conducting their investigation, said they did not suspect any foul play in the case, as reported by MSN.
Who was Jon Medwick?
According to Jon Medwick’s Facebook page, he was a “New York-based storyboard artist for commercial or feature productions.”
In addition, he worked for multiple healthcare organizations as a freelance Copy Supervisor.
Residents reported that Medwick primarily worked from home, with clients sometimes coming over to his apartment to have their artwork done. His last position was at Evoke Group as a Copy Supervisor.
Reportedly, Jon Medwick also created digital content for a wide range of clients, including Novartis, Pfizer, Merck, and Genentech.
