Nicholas Pooran’s late surge leads LSG to a competitive total of 161/7 against KKR in IPL 2024

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) managed to post a competitive total of 161/7 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on Sunday, thanks to Nicholas Pooran’s late batting burst, where he scored 45 runs off 32 balls. Despite struggling on a two-paced pitch, Pooran’s innings helped LSG cross the 160-run mark.

KKR’s Mitchell Starc was impressive with the ball, picking up 3/28, while Sunil Narine, Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakravarthy, and Andre Russell also chipped in with a wicket each. KKR, who are looking to beat LSG for the first time in the IPL, put up a pleasing bowling performance to restrict the visitors.

In the batting department, LSG got off to a decent start with Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul finding the boundaries early on. However, KKR’s bowlers fought back, with Starc dismissing de Kock and Hooda in the powerplay overs. Rahul’s innings came to an end when he was caught at deep mid-wicket off Russell, and LSG kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Pooran then took charge and played a crucial knock towards the end, smashing boundaries and sixes to push LSG’s total past 160. Despite his efforts, Starc managed to dismiss him in the final over, ensuring there were no more fireworks from the LSG batsmen.

With a target of 162 to chase, KKR will be looking to come out strong in their pursuit of victory against LSG in this crucial IPL encounter at the Eden Gardens.

The match promises to be an exciting battle between two strong teams, and fans can expect a thrilling contest between bat and ball as both sides look to outplay each other in all departments of the game.
