Nirbhay Wadhwa talks about portraying Lord Hanuman: ‘I strive to convey through my eyes’

In the recent narrative of the show ‘Shrimad Ramayan’, actor Nirbhay Wadhwa has opened up on portraying Lord Hanuman and the preparations he has undergone. Known for his devotion to Lord Ram, Nirbhay shared insights on conveying qualities of devotion and loyalty in his performance, despite the facial prosthetics he wears.

Nirbhay mentioned, “When it comes to my performance, I try to express myself through my eyes since my face has prosthetics, which limits facial movement. However, I strive to convey emotions as aesthetically as possible, in order to bring out His devotion and loyalty towards Lord Ram.” He also shared that being a Hanuman bhakt, reciting the Hanuman Chalisa daily helps him feel more devoted and positive towards his work.

While discussing the challenges he faced in portraying Lord Hanuman, Nirbhay mentioned, “I had to work on my body to bring out a demeanour like him and embrace the quality of strength which Lord Hanuman is known for. For example, there is a scene where Lord Hanuman lifts a mountain. It was difficult for me to execute the act while also managing the Gadha (mace) on the other hand.” To make the scenes look effortless, Nirbhay revealed that he used to rehearse alone and worked out every day to embody the character properly.

Despite the challenges, Nirbhay ensures to work on his facial expressions as this role requires him to wear a prosthetic mask, making emoting a challenge. ‘Shrimad Ramayan’, where Nirbhay portrays Lord Hanuman, can be seen on Sony. As he brings out the devotion and loyalty of the character on screen, fans can witness the dedication and hard work he puts into his performance.
