Nishant and Amit to Head India’s 9-Member Team for 2nd Olympic Qualifiers

The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has announced the selection of nine boxers to represent India at the second World Qualification Tournament of Paris Olympic Games 2024 in Bangkok from May 23 to June 3. This includes Amit Panghal (51kg) and Nishant Dev (71kg).

Panghal, the current national champion, and Nishant, who reached the final stage of the first Olympic qualifier, are among the boxers chosen. They will be joined by Sachin (57kg), Narender Berwal (+92kg), Sanjeet Kumar (92kg), Abhinash Jamwal (63.5kg), and Abhimanyu Loura (80kg) in their quest for Paris 2024 quotas.

Additionally, former youth world champions Ankushita Boro (60kg) and Arundhati Choudhary (66kg) will represent India in the women’s category. The squad includes five new additions compared to the first Olympic qualifiers held in Italy.

India has already secured four quotas for Paris 2024, with Nikhat Zareen (50kg), Preeti (54kg), Parveen Hooda (57kg), and Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) earning their berths at the Asian Games. A total of 51 Olympic quotas will be up for grabs in the upcoming tournament.
