Nissan Magnite recalled for faulty door handle sensor: What you need to know

Nissan has announced a recall for select variants of Nissan Magnite including the base XE and mid XL produced between November 2020 and December 2023 for a retrofit of front door handle sensors. This proactive action impacts specific models of the SUV.

Nissan Motor India (NMIPL) has initiated a voluntary recall for affected Magnite units. The recall does not affect the car’s drivability, and customers can use their vehicles as usual. The retrofit of the new sensor will be carried out at Nissan service centers at no additional cost to the customers.

A new 5-speed AMT gearbox is set to be introduced to the Nissan Magnite SUV. Variants with the new transmission unit will be available alongside the CVT gearbox already on offer. The recall exclusively affects the base XE and mid XL variants of the Magnite lineup.

The Nissan Magnite, launched in 2020, is currently offered in four variants. A test mule of the Magnite facelift was recently spotted in Chennai, hinting at upcoming updates to the sub-compact SUV. Changes are expected in the front and rear bumpers, as well as the lighting elements of the vehicle.

No mechanical changes are anticipated in the Magnite, which will retain its two 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine options. The naturally aspirated variant produces 70 bhp and 96 Nm of torque, while the turbocharged version delivers 98 bhp and 152 Nm of torque. Both engines come with transmission options for varying driving preferences.
