Nissan to introduce three new cars, including SUVs, in India within the next 3 years

Japanese auto giant Nissan Motor is planning to introduce three new models in India by 2026 and aims to increase its sales to one lakh units per annum. The carmaker aims to strengthen its presence in the Indian market by launching new SUVs and electric cars as part of its global strategy to launch 30 new cars by 2026, with 16 being electric vehicles.

Nissan Motor is set to relaunch at least two models in India – the X-Trail SUV and the Kicks SUV. The X-Trail SUV, which was a part of Nissan’s fleet in India until 10 years ago, has been spotted testing on Indian roads. Alongside the X-Trail, Nissan also showcased the Qashqai and Juke SUVs in 2022. All three models are being considered for the Indian markets with no confirmed timeline for their launch.

Nissan currently sells the Magnite sub-compact SUV in India, which has been a significant contributor to the company’s sales and exports. The carmaker aims to turn India into an export hub and increase its sales volume to one lakh units per annum. The upcoming Kicks SUV is expected to rival popular models like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara in the Indian market.

The X-Trail SUV is not the only model making a comeback, as Nissan also plans to bring back the Kicks SUV to India. The Kicks SUV, which was first launched in India in 2019, shares similarities with the Renault Duster SUV, which is also set for a relaunch in the country. Nissan’s partnership with Renault will play a crucial role in expanding its presence in markets like Europe, LATAM, ASEAN, and India.
