A woman named Florence Harrelson, who was from Maine, passed away in February, and her daughter wrote an obituary for her. The catch here is the daughter wrote it very late. The obituary went viral on social media because it was sarcastic, somewhat mean, and also borderline harsh as well.
Novak’s Sarcastic Obituary For Mother
In it, Novak said that Florence, her mother, terrorized people during her life and did not want anyone to know that she had died. Novak also mentioned that the obituary is more of a public warning than a tribute, which is given traditionally.
Novak added in the obituary, “Florence did not want an obituary or anyone including family to know she died. That’s because even in death, she wanted those she terrorized to still be living in fear looking over their shoulders. So, this isn’t so much an obituary but more of a public service announcement.”
Novak also mentioned that her mother died alone because she had burned bridges around her and talked to literally nobody. Florence was a former US Marine and a prison guard in Maine. Florence had cancer, but she passed away because of her heart failure.
Novak and her mother did not speak to each other for 10 years because of some feud that took place between them.
The obituary went viral online and received mixed reactions from people because of how peculiar the whole thing was.
