Odisha CM inaugurates sports infra projects worth Rs 660 crore

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched sports infrastructure projects worth Rs 660 crore, including 48 multi-purpose indoor stadia, Cuttack Table Tennis Academy, and Rourkela Gymnastics Academy. The aim is to develop sports culture at the grassroots level and promote a healthy lifestyle.

The 48 multipurpose indoor stadia across the state are equipped with facilities for sports like badminton, table tennis, yoga, chess, and weightlifting. In addition, Cuttack Table Tennis Academy and Rourkela Gymnastics Academy feature top-quality equipment and facilities for various sports disciplines.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Patnaik inaugurated 12 new Hockey Training Centres to enhance the hockey ecosystem in the state. The projects also include the foundation stone laying for multi-purpose indoor stadiums, swimming pools, football training centers, basketball courts, and more in various districts of Odisha.

“I hope that the facilities launched today will provide a big momentum to the sports development in the state,” said CM Patnaik. With the addition of these sports infrastructure projects, Odisha aims to support young sportspersons in realizing their potential and bringing laurels to the state and the country.

Overall, the focus is on providing the best sports facilities to nurture talent, promote physical activity, and contribute to the overall development of sports in Odisha. The state now boasts the highest number of Hockey Training Centers in the country, signaling its commitment to sports excellence.
