Olympic Park is all set to be built in Noida near Noida International Airport

Good news for Noida, soon Olympic-level facilities with a proper sports zone and a modern city vibe will be built in Jewar near Noida International Airport, according to Master Plan-2041 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

As per the master plan, the area will have the capacity to gather around 41.7 lakh people by 2041. For this, the authority needs to build almost 4,000 hectares of industrial land, 8 lakh homes and 8 lakh homes. “The sports park will be spread over 950 acre of land while the village, which will be developed on the lines of the Commonwealth Games sports complex (known as Asiad Village) in Delhi, will be built on 250 acre of land. It will have facilities like players’ living quarters and practice areas among others,” the Times of India quoted YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh as saying.

YEIDA works under the Uttar Pradesh government and manages all the work of land as well as development around the expressway. Currently, the latest Noida International Airport is the main priority as well as the area around it. These areas will be used for residential as well as commercial facilities. “Although cricket is not part of the Olympics, there is a possibility of it being included due to the popularity of T20 matches. Besides, arenas for athletics, running tracks, hockey, volleyball and football, among others, will be built. It will be an ideal place to host the Olympics or international sporting events,” Singh further added.

As per the plan, the  ‘Olympic City’ will be built in 2 phases- First Olympic Park will be built then the Olympic Village will be constructed over 52.4 hectares of land. A golf course, a central business centre, a warehouse and logistics facilities have also been proposed in the master plan, the YEIDA official said.
