Oman Flash Flood Videos: 13 Killed, Vehicles Swept Away as Heavy Rains Lash Oman

On Monday, Oman faced a brutal lash of heavy rains which resulted in 13 casualties, reported Hindustan Times.

The ambulance authority and civil defense in Oman recovered the body of a person. The person went missing in North Al Sharqiyah governorate, reported UAE-based Khaleej Times

 The CDAA’s words are quoted by the website, “as part of the efforts of the search teams of the civil defense and ambulance department in North Al Sharqiyah governorate, and with the support of other parties and citizens, a missing person was found dead. Search efforts are still ongoing for three other people, including a child.”

At least 13 people passed away on Sunday in the violent flash floods. 

The report by Khaleej Times stated that as per the national committee for emergency management, out of twelve, an expatriate, two residents and nine students lost their lives. 

Information about the 13th person is not available. 

Glimpse of Oman’s Unstable Situation 

Numerous parts of Oman, due to the torrential rain, experienced severe flooding. 

The collaborative efforts of the ambulance, the civil defense authority, the Royal Army of Oman, and the teams of the Royal Oman Police helped in moving students to safer places from schools. 

Social media are currently flooding with videos showing vehicles sweeping away flooding. Oman’s streets could be spotted with flood water and people are trapped inside their respective houses. 

The Oman Police aviation team transferred 21 people to the AI Lasmo area from a rural farm. 

As per the orders given by the ministry of higher education, scientific research, and innovation, colleges and schools were asked to carry on education via distance learning. 

Business owners were requested to safeguard the safety of themselves and their staff members by monitoring weather bulletins.

All governorates were issued an alert by Oman’s national committee for emergency management.
