Omar Abdullah condemns Kejriwal’s arrest as a ‘blemish on democracy’

Srinagar, March 22 (IANS) Former J&K Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) Vice President, Omar Abdullah criticized the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, calling it a “blot on democracy”. He expressed concern over the timing of the arrest, linking it to the upcoming general elections.

Omar Abdullah emphasized the suspicious timing of Kejriwal’s arrest by stating, “Within days of the EC announcing the dates for the Lok Sabha polls, you see that the sitting Chief Minister and an important part of the opposition alliance has been arbitrarily arrested by the ED.” He condemned the erosion of democratic institutions in the country, citing similar incidents involving other opposition leaders.
