One person dies as part of under-construction bridge collapses in Bihar

In a tragic incident in Bihar’s Supaul district, one person was killed and nine others were injured after a portion of an under-construction bridge collapsed. District Magistrate Kaushal Kumar confirmed the news and mentioned that rescue operations were ongoing at the crash site.

The collapse occurred around 7.30 a.m. while around 40 labourers were present at the construction site. The 10.2 km-long bridge was being constructed over the Kosi River to connect Madhubani and Supaul districts.

The National Highway Authority of India entrusted the construction of the bridge to Gammon India and TransRail Lighting Ltd. The total cost of the project is Rs 998 crore. The injured individuals have been taken to a nearby Sadar hospital for treatment.

The authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse as rescue efforts continue. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.
