On Friday, the maker of ‘ChatGPT,’ OpenAI, announced that Sam Altman is no longer the CEO of the firm. Instead, he has been removed from the position of Chief Executive Officer. The board members of the company are no longer confident about Altman’s capability and potential to continue being the CEO of OpenAI, says the official statement of the board members.

According to the company, the reason behind firing Sam Altman from the position of CEO is that he was not communicating with the board members properly. Sam hindered his ability to effectively fulfill his responsibilities by not fostering mutual understanding. The company stated in a blog post on the official OpenAI website that Sam’s departure has been thoroughly processed and reviewed by the board.

With immediate effect, Mira Murati, the former Chief Technology Officer, will assume the CEO position temporarily. The board members will search for a potential and capable individual who can serve as the permanent CEO of the company, the statement says

Sam Altman’s Response to Getting Fired

Sam Altman remained calm while reacting to the development. He went to X, formerly Twitter, and expressed his affection for his time at the company. He stated that he would announce ‘what’s next’ later.

Sam Altman’s dismissal led to another big departure in the company. Greg Brockman, the president of the Microsoft-funded company also announced his departure from OpenAI.
