Opinions are varied on Apple’s change from EVs to AI

New Delhi, Feb 29 (IANS) – A recent report by GlobalData revealed an increase in discussions about Apple among influencers on the “X” platform following reports of Apple discontinuing its electric vehicle project. While some influencers see this as a wise move towards artificial intelligence, others question the impact on the automotive sector.

Influencers expressed mixed sentiments on Apple’s decision to cancel its EV project, with some suggesting that Apple may still make a mark in the automotive industry through software and services. According to Smitarani Tripathy, a Social Media Analyst at GlobalData, “Though the move is expected to impact employees and industry dynamics, there is speculation that Apple may continue to influence the sector in other ways.”

Popular opinions captured by the report include statements like, “Apple’s decision to shutter the project is due to electric vehicles losing sheen and a revival of interest in hybrid and ICE cars,” said Prakash Sangam, Founder of Tantra Analyst. Meanwhile, Sarbjeet Johal, a Technology Analyst and GTM Strategist, suggested, “Apple should buy Ford and revamp it” in response to the cancellation of the Apple car project.

Contributing Editor at Car and Driver Magazine, John Voelcker, expressed that Apple’s cancellation of its EV project is a surprising move that will impact nearly 2,000 employees. Voelcker mentioned, “It NEVER made sense,” highlighting the ambitious nature of Apple’s decade-long effort to build an EV project.
