Orange Shirt Day In Canada 2022: Images, Quotes, Slogans, Messages, Greetings, Posters, and Banners to make masses aware

On September 30, we commemorate Orange Shirt Day, the day on which the Indigenous or the local children residing in the territory of Canada, were sent to residential schools. Additionally, it’s a day to discover more about the past of those institutions. Between the 1830s and the 1990s, over 150,000 Métis, and Inuit, including First Nations students were sent to residential institutions, which were owned, governed, and run by the churches.

Indigenous children were hurt by the schools because they were separated from their parents and Family. Moreover, they were made to learn and speak French and English rather than their native languages. Along with being cut off through their traditions and culture, they were coerced into becoming Christians to fit in with Canadian society.

Following this scenario, the administration and the authorities have been acknowledging that the approach made was wrong. Furthermore, the approach was considered to be ineffective and cruel by the government as well. Therefore, the then government came up with an official apology to the citizens of Canada, the natives, and the local citizens of Canada in 2008.

You may wonder, what was so special about September 30th. The local students and children were sent to residential schools around this period of the year, that is on 30 September. Orange Shirt day is also popularly known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as the government realized it was a fault and offered an apology as well from the indigenous people of Canada.

The significance behind the celebration of Orange Shirt Day is to make everyone understand that every child matters. Initially, this day was celebrated to spread awareness about residential schools and the ways to fight bullying and racism.
