Osama Bin Laden’s Son Hamza Not Dead As Claimed, Leading Al Qaeda In Afghanistan: Report
Like a proverbial Phoenix the saga of Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda keeps rising and the news that Osama Bin Laden’s Son Hamza is alive, leading Al Qaeda in Afghanistan can give jitters to the US and the Western world.
A report in The Mirror citing intelligence sources has warned that Al Qaeda is regrouping and preparing for future attacks on Western targets under the command of Hamza.
The report said that Hamza is secretly running Al Qaeda from Afghanistan along with his brother, Abdullah bin Laden.
Both the brothers have set up 10 major al-Qaeda terror training camps in Afghanistan and also developed links with anti west Islamic groups.
The brothers spend most of their time in Jalalabad, 100 miles east of Afghanistan’ capital city Kabul.
The National Mobilization Front (NMF) which is a military alliance also carried out a report and said that Hamza is hiding in northern Afghanistan under the constant protection of 450 snipers which include Arab and Pakistani fighters.
The NMF stated that the chaotic withdrawal of Western forces and the takeover of Afghanistan by Taliban have once again led to the nation becoming a training center for more than 21 terror groups across the world.
Hamza bin Laden is now based in Dara Abdullah Khel district (in Panjshir), where 450 Arabs and Pakistanis are protecting him. The NMF also warned that Al Qaeda is regrouping and preparing for future attacks on Western targets
The NMF has also refuted the claims that Hamza was killed in a 2019 US airstrike. Hamza is also reported to be working closely with Ayman al-Zawahiri, who took over the affairs of Al Qaeda after Osama’s killing.
The Mirror report also said that Al Qaeda’s resurgence is well known to the senior Taliban leaders who engage with Hamza, hold regular meetings and provide security to him and his family. Hamza is 32 years old and has three wives.
The report also highlighted the deep connection between al-Qaeda and the Taliban, a fact that needs to be understood by the West. Hamza’s ascension as a leader of Al Qaeda is unprecedented and he is steering Al Qaeda towards its most potent resurgence since the Iraq War.
US President Donald Trump in 2019 stated that he had authorized a successful hit on Hamza in an airstrike in the Ghazni province in south east Afghanistan. However the CIA could not get any DNA as proof.
In a statement issued by the White House, Trump said
“The loss of Hamza bin Laden not only deprives al-Qa’ida of important leadership skills and the symbolic connection to his father, but undermines important operational activities of the group.”
