Owner of ‘Popcorn & Co’ silences Peyush Bansal; Anupam Mittal responds: ‘respect for the seat’

New Delhi, March 23 (IANS) The latest episode of ‘Shark Tank India 3’ featured a thrilling moment as the gourmet popcorn brand, ‘Popcorn and Company’ struck a Rs 75 lakh deal with shark Namita Thapar. However, tensions rose during the pitch, leading to a heated exchange between the founder and the sharks.

Vikas Suri, the founder of ‘Popcorn & Co’, highlighted the significance of popcorn in cinema experience, stating, “We can’t enjoy a film without popcorn.” He shared how his company delivers both ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook popcorn for movie lovers at home. Namita Thapar praised the business, expressing her family’s love for popcorn and the experience it brings.

When asked about his journey, Vikas revealed his background in the US and experience in designing equipment for food establishments. Despite the positive feedback on the popcorn flavors, some sharks raised concerns about competition, margins, and business structure. The tension escalated when Vikas silenced one of the sharks during the discussion.

Anupam Mittal and Vineeta Singh criticized Vikas for his behavior, questioning his professionalism and respect. Anupam emphasized the importance of mutual learning and growth in a business partnership. Eventually, the founder closed a deal with Namita Thapar, agreeing to Rs 75 lakh for 15% equity and 3% royalty until a specific target is met. The episode of ‘Shark Tank India 3’ showcased the challenges and negotiations in entrepreneurial endeavors.
