Patna University Student Harsh Raj’s Murder by Masked Attackers
On Monday, 22-year-old Harsh Raj, a student at Patna University’s BN College, was leaving his exam center in the afternoon when he was attacked by ten to fifteen masked men.

Raj was assaulted with sticks and bricks, and the assailants continued to beat him for almost twenty minutes.
There were more than 50 onlookers, but no one intervened, including the security guards on duty at the college.
Raj was rushed by his friends to Patna Medical College and Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Bharat Soni, City SP (East), said in a statement, “Harsh Raj, a third-year student of B.N. College pursuing a vocational English course, came to Sultanganj Law College to appear for an exam.
He was an active student at the college and reportedly had a feud with other students on Dussehra last year. We are looking at the possibility that this case is related to that matter.”
Patna Police stated,
“He was killed during a vicious attack by seven or eight criminals. He passed away in the hospital shortly after being admitted. In addition to gathering more evidence, we are examining the CCTV footage from the crime scene. Efforts are ongoing to trace the attackers.”
Although no CCTV footage is available of the incident, police are studying videos taken by onlookers.
A video of the accused beating the student has surfaced online, but its veracity has not been confirmed. Netizens have taken to the social media platform X and demanded justice for the boy.
Patna Police has stated that one of the assailants has been arrested, and efforts are on to arrest the remaining suspects.
The police stated,
“We have arrested Chandan Kumar, a student of Patna College. He confessed that during a college event in August last year, two groups of Patna University students had clashed, which became the trigger for Monday’s incident.”
Harsh Raj was a native of Majhauli village in Vaishali district. He recently returned to Patna after campaigning for NDA candidate Shabhavi Choudhary, who was standing from the Samastipur Lok Sabha Constituency. The deceased student’s father was a journalist for a local Hindi daily.
The killing of the student in broad daylight has shocked everyone and also raised the political temperature. Opposition leader Tejasvi Yadav alleged that there has been a complete breakdown in law and order in the state since the NDA has come into power.
