PBKS Begin IPL 2024 Campaign with Four-Wicket Win Over DC, Thanks to Curran and Livingstone’s Performance

In a thrilling match at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Punjab Kings secured a four-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024 opener. Sam Curran’s 63 and Liam Livingstone’s 38 not out led PBKS to victory after restricting DC to 174/9.

Chasing 175, PBKS kicked off with a strong start as Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow hit boundaries, but Ishant Sharma’s injury turned the tide. Despite dropped catches, Curran and Livingstone’s partnership sealed the win with four balls to spare, ending at 177/6.

Ishant Sharma’s early spell saw Dhawan’s dismissal, and Bairstow’s run-out added pressure on DC. Prabhsimran Singh’s quick start was supported by Curran’s fifty, even after surviving a dropped catch, leading to Livingstone’s finishing knocks which included a massive six to secure victory.

Khaleel Ahmed’s crucial spell included dismissing Curran and Shashank Singh, but Livingstone’s stellar performance ensured PBKS crossed the finish line successfully. With this win, Punjab Kings have set the tone for a promising IPL 2024 campaign.
