PBKS Skipper Shikhar Dhawan ruled out of action for ‘at least 7-10 days’ due to shoulder injury, confirms Sanjay Bangar in IPL 2024

Punjab Kings suffer a setback as captain Shikhar Dhawan could be out of action for a week or 10 days due to a shoulder injury, confirmed by Head of Cricket Development of PBKS, Sanjay Bangar. Dhawan could miss two upcoming home games in the IPL against Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans.

The absence of Shikhar Dhawan was felt during PBKS’ recent match against Rajasthan Royals, where Sam Curran stepped in as captain. Bangar mentioned that Dhawan’s recovery could take up to 10 days, impacting the team’s crucial upcoming fixtures.

During a press conference, Bangar clarified the confusion surrounding Curran’s captaincy and explained that Sam Curran was always the designated stand-in captain, as seen in a similar situation during IPL 2023. Dhawan’s recent form with the bat in IPL 2024 has been below par, scoring 152 runs from five innings.

Despite Dhawan’s absence and batting struggles, Punjab Kings are currently in eighth place on the points table with four wins in six matches. The team will have to strategize and regroup in the absence of their captain to secure crucial victories in the upcoming IPL matches.
