PE-VC investments drop 8% to $6.2 billion in Q1

New Delhi, March 31 (IANS) – Private Equity-Venture Capital (PE-VC) firms have invested over $6.2 billion in Indian companies in the first quarter of 2024, according to data from Venture Intelligence. This marks an 8% decrease from the same period in 2023, with 205 deals being made.

In Q1’24, deal volumes saw a decrease of 15% compared to Q1’23 and a 2% decrease from the previous quarter. Additionally, there were 8 mega deals ($100M plus rounds) totaling $3.5 billion in Q1’24, a decrease from 17 such deals worth $3.6 billion in Q1’23.

The largest investment in Q1’24 was the $2 billion acquisition of the Indian business of telecom Infrastructure provider American Tower Corporation (ATC) by Brookfield. Other top investments included GIC’s $500 million in Sterlite Power Transmission and Multiples PE & Advent International’s $233 million in Svatantra Microfin, followed by NIIF’s majority stake acquisition in iBus for $200 million.
