PM Modi departs for Bhutan to strengthen India-Bhutan partnership
New Delhi, March 22 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a two-day visit to Bhutan on Friday to enhance bilateral ties and engage in discussions with King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. The state visit underscores the significance of India’s Neighbourhood First Policy.
During his visit, PM Modi expressed his eagerness to further strengthen the India-Bhutan partnership and is set to engage in discussions with Bhutanese leaders. The visit, initially planned for March 21, was rescheduled due to adverse weather conditions in Bhutan.
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the visit as an opportunity for both nations to discuss bilateral and regional concerns and explore ways to enhance their longstanding partnership. PM Modi’s visit follows an invitation extended by PM Tobgay during his recent trip to India, emphasizing the commitment to bolstering relations.
During PM Tobgay’s visit to India from March 14-18, discussions between the leaders aimed at strengthening ties between the two neighboring nations took place. The interaction included dialogue on various issues of mutual interest, further showcasing the enduring bond between India and Bhutan.
