PM Modi encourages youth to consider gaming as a lucrative career choice

In a recent interaction, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with prominent young gamers in India to discuss the growing e-gaming industry. Industry leaders praised this move as a recognition of the sector’s importance and an encouragement for youth to consider gaming as a viable career option.

PM Modi engaged in conversation with creators like Animesh Agarwal, Mithilesh Patankar, Payal Dhare, Naman Mathur, and Anshu Bisht to understand the rise of the e-gaming industry. Parth Chadha, Co-founder and CEO of gaming startup STAN, remarked, “PM Modi’s interaction with top gamers has inspired the youth to pursue gaming as a career.”

With a gaming audience of 450-550 million players in the country, the Indian gaming industry generated $3.1 billion in revenue in FY23. Highlighting the economic contribution of gaming, Chadha emphasized the importance of PM Modi’s engagement with the gaming community.

Lokesh Suji, Director of Esports Federation of India, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet PM Modi, calling it a dream come true for gamers and E-sports athletes. Suji highlighted the government’s recognition of E-sports as a sport and hoped for continued support to bolster the Indian E-sports ecosystem.
