PM Modi leads BJP CEC meeting to select candidates for LS elections (Ld)
New Delhi, March 1 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) to finalise the first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The meeting, which began at 10.45 p.m. on Thursday, ended at 3.15 a.m. on Friday.
The meeting was attended by party National President J.P. Nadda, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other top members of the CEC. Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, and party leaders were also present in the meeting to discuss the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
According to sources, a high-level meeting was held earlier on Thursday at the official residence of Prime Minister Modi, where discussions were held regarding the selection of candidates for more than 150 Lok Sabha seats across various states. The party is expected to release the first list of candidates on Friday.
Prime Minister Modi has set the aim of securing 400-plus seats for the NDA-led BJP alliance in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He has also emphasized on promoting young candidates within the party to ensure the growth and development of the BJP.
The BJP’s CEC meeting was crucial in finalising candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. With the aim of winning a significant number of seats and promoting youth leadership within the party, Prime Minister Modi and other top leaders are working towards a successful election campaign.
