PM Modi: North-East is the Greatest Success Story of New India, with 70 Visits to the Region
In a recent interview with the Assam Tribune, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the transformation of North-East India in the past decade. He highlighted the region’s growth and development under his government, emphasizing the shift from neglect to prosperity.
According to PM Modi, North-East is now seen as ‘New India’s greatest success story’ and ‘Bharat’s gateway to the East’. He credited his government’s efforts in changing the perception of the region and focusing on integration and growth to achieve this transformation.
PM Modi pointed out the neglect of North-East by previous governments, especially the Congress regime, and highlighted his personal attention to the region. He mentioned his numerous visits and the increased engagement of Union Ministers in the North-East, reflecting the government’s commitment to the region’s progress.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the significant milestones achieved in the North-East under the NDA rule, including a quadrupling of investments, improved infrastructure connectivity, and the signing of peace agreements to address insurgency. He cited examples of key projects and investments in education and skill training in the region, leading to the emergence of young talent and start-ups.
PM Modi noted the success in reducing insurgency incidents and improving security in the region. He highlighted the decrease in security force casualties and civilian deaths, as well as the withdrawal of AFSPA from most parts of North-East, attributing the positive changes to the government’s relentless efforts towards peace and development.
