PM Modi predicts that the wave of protests by Sandeshkhali women will soon spread to all of Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Barasat, West Bengal, praising the women of Sandeshkhali for their protests against sexual harassment. He criticized the Trinamool Congress for ignoring women’s complaints and accused them of protecting the accused rather than supporting the victims.

Modi highlighted the courage of the women in Sandeshkhali who stood up against harassment and violence, stating that their movement will spread across the state. He condemned the state government for not implementing central projects for women empowerment, such as the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme and the Ujjwala gas connection program.

The Prime Minister expressed his disappointment with the ruling Trinamool Congress, accusing them of playing politics and ignoring the suffering of women. He emphasized the need for a better support system for women in distress, calling out the state government for hindering the operation of a helpline for women.

Modi called for a change in the way women are treated in West Bengal, citing historical figures like Ma Sarada and Matangini Hazra as examples of female empowerment. He criticized the state government for prioritizing appeasement politics and corruption over women’s rights, promising that the wave of protests from Sandeshkhali will reach every corner of the state.
