Poshan Abhiyan

The Government of India started Poshan Abhiyaan, commonly called the National Nutrition Mission, in 2018 (although the initiative was implemented in 2017) to address Modi’s malnutrition crisis.

Poshan Abhiyan- National Nutrition Mission: Objectives

  • The project’s main goal is to minimise undernutrition among youngsters in the country while also improving their nutritional health.
  • Malnutrition will be eradicated from the nation by 2022, according to the mission, which is a multi-ministerial undertaking.
  • Poshan Abhiyaan is India’s major nutrition-improvement programme for adolescents, kids, pregnant women, and breastfeeding moms.
  • The mission makes use of innovation and collaboration amongst different modules and divisions.
  • The acronym ‘Poshan’ means for ‘Prime Minister’s Amorphous Strategy for Integrative Nutrition,’ and it is used in the project’s name.
  • Stunting, hypertension, undernourishment, and premature birth are among the project’s particular goals.
  • The National Nutrition Mission’s ‘Mission 25 by 2020’ intends to reduce malnutrition from 38.4 per cent to 25 per cent by 2022, as per ‘Objective 25 by 2020.’
  • Apart from organizing social audit reports, the mission also includes modelling various other malnutrition-related strategies and empowering synergy effects through an ICT-based true surveillance system, rigorous consolidation between both the schemes, incentivizing states and UTs for meeting targeted goals, and maximising Anganwadi centre working.
  • The NITI Aayog is also an important part of the purpose. The Vice President of NITI Aayog serves as the Chairperson of the National Council on India’s Nourishing Challenges, which was established underneath the Poshan Abhiyaan.

Poshan Abhiyan- National Nutrition Mission: Specific Targets

The following are the goals of the National Nutrition Mission:

  • Stunting should be reduced by 2% per year.
  • Reduce the rate of undernutrition by 2% every year.
  • Anaemia should be reduced by 3% each year.
  • Reduce the number of babies born with low birth weight by 2% per year.

Covid-19’s Effect On Malnutrition

Covid-19 is forcing millions of citizens into poverty, lowering many more people’s earnings, and particularly harming the poor, who are also the most susceptible to hunger and food insecurity.
Furthermore, pandemic-induced shutdowns hampered key services such as complementary foods at Women and child development centres, mid-day meals, vaccination, and micronutrients supplements, exacerbating starvation.

Raj Kundra, the famous businessman and husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, has had properties worth Rs. 98 crore seized by the Enforcement Directorate.

The ED has also seized Shilpa Shetty’s Juhu flat. The Mumbai Zonal Office has seized movable and immovable properties worth Rs. 97.79 crore belonging to Raj Kundra (also known as Ripu Sudan Kundra) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, as reported by The Economic Times.

The investigation was initiated by the ED based on multiple FIRs registered by the Delhi Police and Maharashtra Police.

The FIRs were registered against several MLM agents: Mahender Bhardwaj, Simpy Bhardwaj, Vivek Bhardwaj, Ajay Bhardwaj, the late Amit Bhardwaj, and M/s Variable Tech Pte Ltd.

According to News18, allegations prevail that they collected funds worth Rs. 6,600 crore in 2017 in the form of Bitcoins. Moreover, they falsely promised a 10 percent return per month in the form of Bitcoins.

Investors were led to believe they would get higher returns on crypto assets, and the Bitcoins were purportedly taken to be used for Bitcoin mining in Ukraine. However, the promoters cheated the investors.

The promoters concealed the “ill-gotten Bitcoins in obscure online wallets.”

Investigation on Raj Kundra and Other Suspects

The ED investigation into Raj Kundra revealed that he received 285 Bitcoins from Amit Bhardwaj, the mastermind.

As the deal didn’t materialize, Raj Kundra still possesses 285 Bitcoins, worth Rs. 150 crore at present value, as per Mint.

In this case, Nikhil Mahajan was apprehended on January 1, 2023, Nitin Gaur on December 29, 2023, and Simpy Bhardwaj on December 17, 2023. Currently, all three of them are in judicial custody.

However, the masterminds, Mahendra Bhardwaj and Ajay Bhardwaj, are yet to be caught.

The horrific incident took place at 4:30 pm when the victim completed her first semester exams and was returning.

However, both Neha’s parents and the college management opposed their friendship. Thus, Neha distanced herself from Fayaz.

Police consider that this stabbing incident occurred due to their strained relationship.

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu Exposes Fake Twitter Account Spreading Rumors on Exam Results, Shares Screen Shot On Social Media

It was another case of fake news in which a rumor spread that the results of Assam Higher Secondary exams had been released. The fake news spread quickly, requiring the intervention of Assam’s Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu, who exposed the details of a fake Twitter account spreading rumors about exam results.

On Friday, Assam’s Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu, took to social media to debunk the fake news that the Secondary Exams results of Assam had been released. The Minister clarified that the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) are responsible for declaring the exam results, and they will be declared according to their predetermined schedule.

Additionally, Minister Ranoj Pegu shared screenshots of the fake Twitter account bearing his name and allegedly spreading false news about the announcement of results for the HSLC & HS Examination, 2024. The screenshots revealed that miscreants had attempted to spread the fake news that the results of the Secondary Exams would be declared on Saturday, April 20, 2024.

Minister Ranoj Pegu also clarified that the claims were entirely false and once again exposed how easily such false information can spread on social media. This underscores the need for readers to remain vigilant and verify information from credible sources.

SEBA and AHSEC are tasked with conducting the Class 10 and Class 12 exams, respectively. The Class 10 matric exams concluded on March 4, and the Class 12 higher secondary exams concluded on March 13. In 2023, the Assam board Class 10 results were declared on May 22, and Class 12 HS results on June 16. The results will be made available on the official websites of the board — sebaonline.org, resultsassam.nic.in, and ahsec.assam.gov.in.

Last year, the pass percentage for Class 10 was 72.69 percent. The pass percentage for the Class 12 Arts stream was 70.12 percent, 79.57 percent for the Commerce stream, and 84.96 percent in the Science stream.

The Assam Board of Secondary Education is expected to release the Assam Board 10th Result 2024 during the first week of May 2024. However, no official announcement has been issued by the Assam Board yet.
