Pradosh Vrat Story

Unaware that the boy was the son of the King of Vidharba, who the enemies killed, the Brahmin widow took the boy to her home. The boy’s name was Dharmagupta, and he was an orphan since his Mother also died soon after her husband’s death.

The Brahmin widow raised the boy just like her own son. Once Sage Shandaliya visited Dev Mandir. The Brahmin widow took both her son and was told by the Sage that the boy was Dharmagupta, the son of the King Of Vidharbha. The Sage also explained the importance of Pradosh fast to both the boys.

A few days later, the boys were hunting in the forest when they came across several Gandharva girls. Prince Dharmagupta was smitten by the beauty of one of the Gandharva girls named Anshumati. He fell in love with her and wanted to marry her. Her father knowing about the background of Prince Dharmagupta, got them both married with the permission of Lord Bholenath.
