Pramod Bhagat, Sukant Kadam reach singles semis of Para-Badminton World Championships

At the ongoing BWF Para-Badminton World Championships 2024 in Thailand, Tokyo Paralympic Games gold medallist Pramod Bhagat and ace shuttler Sukant Kadam have advanced into the semifinals. Pramod defeated France’s Mathieu Thomas, while Sukant beat Nigeria’s Chigozie Jeremiah Nnanna to secure their spots in the next round.

Pramod Bhagat displayed dominance in his quarterfinal match against Mathieu Thomas, winning in straight sets with scores of 21-15 and 21-17. Meanwhile, Sukant Kadam controlled his game against Chigozie Jeremiah Nnanna, winning comfortably with scores of 21-13, 21-11. Pramod will face Manoj Sarkar in the semifinals, while Sukant will take on Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan.

In mixed doubles, Pramod Bhagat and Manisha Ramdass secured a spot in the semifinals by defeating Japan’s Taiyo Imai and Noriko Ito in three games. Despite losing the second game, they managed to clinch the decider with a score of 21-18. They will now face Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan and Khalimatus Sadiyah in the next round.

The Indian pair of Pramod and Sukant will also compete in the men’s doubles quarterfinals against France’s Guillaume Gailly and Mathiew Thomas. Both players have showcased their skill and determination in the tournament, aiming to bring home more accolades for the country.
