Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Join World Climate Action Summit in Dubai

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to participate in the World Climate Action Summit, in Dubai on December 1. This summit will bring together leaders from sectors including heads of state, civil society, business, youth, frontier communities, and science to discuss and plan strategies for advancing climate actions. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the Prime Minister’s attendance at the 28th Conference of Parties in a statement released on Sunday.

According to the statement, Prime Minister Modi has been invited by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi to join the UN climate talks. He will visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on November 30.

The World Climate Action Summit is part of the Conference of Parties (COP 28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) which is being chaired by the United Arab Emirates from November 28 to December 12, 2023.

During this summit taking place til December 12 discussions will revolve around scaling up climate action with participation from heads of state and government representatives from civil society organizations, business leaders, youth groups people organizations, frontier communities well as scientific experts, across various fields.

Bhupendra Yadav, the Minister of Environment, for the Union, is also set to take part in events and roundtable discussions during the 28th session of the annual climate talks (COP28). These discussions will cover topics such as financing for climate objectives reducing emissions adapting to climate impacts and transitioning, towards an economy. This inclusive approach was reported by PTI on Friday.
