Pulse Polio Vaccination Camps Set Up in 43,000 Locations Across TN

The Pulse Polio immunisation camps began in Tamil Nadu, targeting 57,84,000 children under the age of five. The health department officials mentioned that the vaccination drive started in 43,000 locations on Sunday and will continue on Monday for those who missed it.

Transit booths have been strategically placed in public areas like bus stations, railway stations, airports, checkposts, and toll plazas to facilitate the immunisation programme. The Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine is overseeing the operations, with the support of around two lakh individuals from government and nongovernmental sectors.

Tamil Nadu’s Health Minister Ma Subramanian emphasized that the state is polio-free and stressed the importance of vaccinating all children under five. An extensive awareness campaign featuring celebrities has contributed to increased awareness among parents, leading to a higher turnout for vaccination. The Minister expressed commitment to ensuring the well-being of children through vaccination efforts.
