Punjab Budget Session Commences with Chaos

The Budget session of the Punjab Assembly began with chaos as Governor Banwarilal Purohit had to cut short his address due to disruption by Congress MLAs led by Partap Bajwa. The MLAs raised slogans and showed placards, leading to the Governor reading only the first and last paragraphs of his speech.

In his address, the Governor emphasized the government’s commitment to bridging the gap between the privileged and the marginalized, ensuring development reaches every section of society. He spoke about the resilient spirit of the people of Punjab and the need for progress, inclusivity, and sustainable development.

Amidst the disruptions, AAP leader Harsukhinder Singh criticized the Congress for their behavior, stating that the party has not been pro-farmers and has done little for their betterment. He called out the Congress leaders for their insensitivity during a solemn occasion in the Assembly, where tribute was being paid to departed souls, including martyred farmer Shubhkaran Singh.

The disruptions in the Punjab Assembly during the Budget session reflect the ongoing tensions and disagreements between political parties on key issues such as farmers’ rights and welfare. The acrimonious scenes highlight the challenges faced by policymakers in addressing the concerns of different sections of society and working towards inclusive development.
