Punjab Congress chief praises Moosewala’s father for following IVF treatment protocol

Chandigarh, March 20 (IANS) Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring expressed outrage over the treatment of slain rapper Sidhu Moosewala’s family after the birth of a child through IVF treatment. The family of Balkaur Singh Sidhu and Charan Kaur faced undue pressure and distress from the state and central governments, despite following all IVF protocols. The birth of their second son on March 17 brought joy, but was marred by government intervention.

Warring stated, “The plight of Sidhu Moosewala’s humble family is deeply disconcerting amidst the unwarranted distress and pressure imposed upon them by the Punjab government. This family has endured considerable hardships, and upon finally experiencing a semblance of joy with the arrival of their newborn, the government’s intervention threatens to disrupt their newfound happiness.” Moosewala’s father, Balkaur Singh, accused the state government of harassment over the IVF birth, with officials confirming the use of IVF for the second child.

In response to the situation, Warring remarked, “The birth of their son was a moment of collective jubilation…Balkaur Singh undoubtedly adhered to all IVF protocols. It is unjust that this honest man is vilified merely for advocating against governmental inadequacies, critiquing the BJP, or seeking justice for his son.” The Union health ministry wrote to the Punjab government seeking a report on the IVF treatment of Charan Kaur, noting that she is 58 years old, while the age limit for women undergoing ART services is between 21 and 50 years as per the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021.

The rapper Sidhu Moosewala was tragically shot dead by six assailants on May 29, 2022, just one day after his security cover was reduced, at Jawahar Ke village in Punjab’s Mansa district. The case has sparked controversy and raised questions about the treatment of Moosewala’s family in the aftermath of his untimely death.
