PV Sindhu Shines in Madrid Spain Masters, Advances to Second Round

Madrid, March 28 (IANS) Star Indian shuttler PV Sindhu showcased her dominance on the court as she secured a straight-game victory over Canada’s Wen Yu Zhang in the first round of the Madrid Spain Masters. With a scoreline of 21-16, 21-12, Sindhu cruised to the next round with ease.

Sindhu’s aggressive gameplay was evident from the start, as she quickly took a 4-1 lead in the first game. Despite Zhang’s attempts to narrow the gap, Sindhu maintained control and closed out the game at 21-16. The second game saw Sindhu’s momentum continue, as she clinched victory at 21-12, setting up a face-off with Chinese Taipei’s Huang Yu-Hsun in the next round.

While Sindhu’s win brought joy to Indian fans, the tournament had a mix of results for the Indian contingent. Ashmita Chaliha and the mixed doubles pair of Aadya Variyath and Sathish Kumar Karunakaran faced defeats, but B Sumeeth Reddy and Sikki Reddy staged a remarkable comeback to secure a thrilling victory.

In the men’s singles category, Mithu Manjunath fell short against Wang Tzu Wei of Chinese Taipei. However, the Indian hopes remain high as Kidambi Srikanth and Kiran George gear up for their upcoming matches, aiming to make a mark in the prestigious tournament.
