In the latest development, the Chinese Foreign Minister, Qin Gang has been missing from his official duties. He was publicly last seen on 25th June during the official talks with Sri Lanka, Russia, and Vietnam. After that, he has been absent from his office duties, especially at such a crucial time in Beijing, as the Chinese government is making efforts to normalize the relationship with the U.S.A.

Qin was scheduled to meet Josep Borrell, the Foreign Policy Chief of the European Union. But at the last moment, China canceled the meeting without giving any explanation. Additionally, he failed to show up at a meeting with US climate envoy John Kerry and US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.

He later studied international politics at China’s prestigious University of International Relations in Beijing. Throughout his career, he held many notable positions in the Chinese government. 

On 11th July, a press statement was released stating he will not be attending the meeting in Indonesia due to some health concerns. No further comment has been made on the issues from the Chinese government. Last week in Jakarta, China was represented by Wang in a meeting of foreign ministers at an Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit.
