Qualcomm introduces new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip for top-tier Android phones

Chip-maker Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Android flagship smartphones, to be adopted by major players like Honor, iQOO, realme, Redmi, and Xiaomi. The platform offers generative AI features, always-sensing ISP, hyper-realistic gaming, breakthrough connectivity, and lossless high-definition sound.

According to the company, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 supports a wide range of AI models, including popular large language models such as Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, and Gemini Nano. Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handsets at Qualcomm Technologies, stated, “With capabilities including on-device generative AI and advanced photography features, Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is designed to enhance user experiences, fostering creativity and productivity in their daily lives.”

The first device featuring the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is expected to be announced this month. William Lu, Partner and President of Xiaomi Corporation, President of International Business Department, GM of Xiaomi Brand, expressed that the new mobile platform will “allow us to provide our customers with a personalized premium experience, all thanks to generative AI.”
