Raging LA Wildfires Ignite Political Feud as Trump Blames Jow Biden and Gavin Newsom for La Wildfire Crisis

The disastrous wildfire which is raging through Los Angeles is showing no signs of abating and it has already claimed the lives of five people and property worth $50 billion has been destroyed. The disaster has also started a slugfest with Republican Party President-elect, Donald Trump blaming the about-to-exit President Joe Biden and California Governor Gavin Newsom for the calamity.

In a series of posts on Truth, Trump came down heavily on the handling of the crisis particularly the paucity of firefighting resources and water supplies. The wildfires have overwhelmed firefighting resources and strained water supplies in Los Angeles County.

Trump derided Biden for what he termed as gross incompetence in tackling the situation.

Trump wrote on Truth,

“NO WATER IN THE FIRE HYDRANTS, NO MONEY IN FEMA. THIS IS WHAT JOE BIDEN IS LEAVING ME. THANKS JOE!”

Officials have stated that the water supply in many areas has been exhausted due to the augmented demands by the spreading wildfires.

Trump was particularly severe in his criticism of California Governor Gavin Newsom with him he had earlier crossed swords over water policy. Trump accused Gavin Newsom of being responsible for the water shortage.

Trump said,

“Governor Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snowmelt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way,”

Trump was referring to the vexed debate between Newsom and water advocates in California. Critics of the Governor lamented that environmental measures, especially the ban on water distribution to farmers to protect endangered species like the smelt fish, have worsened the water shortages.

Trump added,

“He wanted to protect an essentially worthless fish called a smelt, by giving it less water (it didn’t work!), but didn’t care about the people of California. Now the ultimate price is being paid.”

The fires continue to rage and already it has consumed tens of thousands of acres. The fire is still not contained and authorities are giving the grim warning that the situation can further aggravate.

Trump has always taken sides with the farmers over environmentalists in the state’s ongoing water disputes. However, experts are still not clear how Trump’s solution would have impacted the firefighting efforts.

Governor Gavin Newsom swiftly responded to Trump’s claims and stated that the water restoration declaration was just a figment of imagination.

Newsom wrote,

“The Governor is focused on protecting people, not playing politics, and making sure firefighters have all the resources they need”.
