Rahman, Mohit Chauhan, Irshad Kamil, and Imtiaz Ali Collaborate on ‘Ishq Mitaye’
The first song ‘Ishq Mitaye’ from the film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ starring Diljit Dosanjh has been sung by Mohit Chauhan. The track, composed by A.R. Rahman, is a blend of traditional and modern beats, reminiscent of Punjabi music from the 1980s.
The song was released at the ‘Next on Netflix’ event in Mumbai, with Parineeti Chopra, Diljit Dosanjh, Rahman, Mohit Chauhan, Imtiaz Ali, and Irshad Kamil present. The film is based on the life of legendary singer Amar Singh Chamkila and his unsolved murder in 1988.
Diljit stars as Chamkila, with Parineeti playing Amarjot, his wife and musical partner. The film features six original Hindi songs sung by various artists, including Alka Yagnik, Arijit Singh, and Kailash Kher. Rahman described the story as a special opportunity to explore Punjab’s musical richness.
The film showcases live music recordings done on location during the shoot, capturing the raw energy of live performances. Imtiaz Ali praised Rahman for diving into Punjabi music and using traditional styles and instruments. The movie, produced by Mohit Choudhary and others, will premiere on Netflix on April 12.
