Rajasthan CM asks HPCL to complete Pachpadra Refinery work before Diwali

Jaipur, Feb 27 (IANS) – Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has instructed Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to expedite the construction of the Pachpadra Refinery in Balotra, aiming for completion before Diwali. The refinery project is expected to kickstart an industrial revolution in the state, creating thousands of job opportunities and generating substantial revenue.

During a review meeting at his office, Chief Minister Sharma emphasized the importance of entering into long term supply agreements with investors for the timely sale of products from the refinery. The project, designed to process 9 MMPTA crude oil and 2.4 MMPTA petrochemicals, is a significant integrated refinery cum petro-chemical complex in the region.

The project has seen more than 90 per cent completion in four units and seven packages so far. Chief Minister Sharma highlighted the benefits of the project, stating that it will not only provide employment opportunities but also contribute around Rs 6000 crore in revenue annually to the state, making Rajasthan a potential hub for foreign direct investment.

HPCL has been directed to prioritize the pending works of the refinery to ensure its operational readiness, enabling the supply of oil to meet the country and state’s requirements. Apart from petrol and diesel, the refinery will also produce 35 petrochemicals and other substances, indicating a diverse range of products to be marketed effectively.

Representatives from HPCL briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of the project during the meeting, stating that crucial infrastructure such as crude oil lines and products lines are nearing completion. With the involvement of key officials like Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant and Additional Chief Secretary Finance Akhil Arora, the project is poised to boost the state’s economy and industrial landscape.
